A protected marine sanctuary of extraordinary natural beauty, the Tobago Cays form a scattering of five uninhabited islets — including Petit Bateau and Petit Tabac — cradled within the crescent embrace of Horseshoe Reef in the southern Grenadines. Here, the Caribbean Sea resolves into impossible gradients of turquoise and jade, filtered through a living coral barrier that has sheltered these waters for millennia.

Sugar-white sandbars emerge at low tide like mirages, while green sea turtles graze unhurried in the shallows just offshore, accustomed to the quiet presence of snorkelers. There are no roads, no permanent structures, no artificial light to compete with the stars — only the sound of wind, water, and seabirds. Accessible solely by boat, the Cays reward those who arrive with patience: yachts anchor in the lee of the reef, and visitors wade ashore onto sand still warm from the sun.

Designated a national marine park, this is one of the last truly wild reef ecosystems in the Eastern Caribbean, precious precisely because it remains so difficult to leave unchanged.
