Koh Nang Yuan is a natural marvel: three tiny granite-fringed islets fused together by a dazzling white sandbar in the Gulf of Thailand, just off the coast of Koh Tao. Ringed by impossibly clear turquoise water, the sandbar splits into two ribbons of sand, creating one of Southeast Asia’s most photographed shorelines.

A short, steep climb over sun-bleached boulders leads to the island’s famous viewpoint, where the panorama unfolds in layers of jade, emerald and sapphire — a vista that has become an emblem of Thai island beauty. Beneath the surface, coral gardens and reef fish reward snorkelers on either flank of the sandbar.
