A natural beach and limestone sanctuary carved into the wild Gulf of Orosei, Cala Goloritzé is one of the Mediterranean’s most extraordinary shores. Reached only after a scenic hour-and-a-half trek through the karst plateau of Golgo, or by boat across turquoise waters, this UNESCO-recognized cove rewards visitors with a crescent of pale pebbles framed by sheer white cliffs plunging into impossibly clear water.

Presiding over the scene is the Aguglia, a soaring 143-metre limestone pinnacle rising like a natural cathedral spire from the sea, prized by climbers and photographers alike since its first ascent in the 1960s. Pine trees cling improbably to the rock, their roots gripping stone shaped by millennia of wind and tide.

Part of the protected Baunei coastline, access is limited and ticketed to preserve its fragile beauty. Cala Goloritzé is less a beach than a pilgrimage — a place where Sardinia’s raw, elemental landscape meets the stillness of the open sea.
