A natural turquoise lagoon cradled within towering limestone karsts on the eastern edge of Miniloc Island, Big Lagoon is one of Bacuit Bay’s most mesmerizing sanctuaries. Reached only by boat and a final glide through a narrow limestone channel, the lagoon opens into a vast amphitheater of jade-green water so still it mirrors the jagged cliffs rising hundreds of meters above.

Tides dictate the rhythm here: at low tide, kayaks and paddleboards drift silently across shallow, glassy water revealing pale sandbars, while high tide submerges the coral-flecked seabed beneath deeper cobalt hues. Sunlight filters through the cliffs at midday, casting the water in shifting emerald and turquoise tones prized by photographers and free divers alike.

Encircled by dense tropical vegetation clinging to sheer rock faces, the lagoon feels both intimate and monumental, a favored highlight of El Nido’s classic island-hopping Tour A. Its protected, wind-sheltered waters make it a serene counterpoint to the open sea, embodying the untouched, primordial beauty that first drew explorers to Palawan’s Bacuit archipelago.
