A natural turquoise lagoon and coral sanctuary, Tobago Cays Marine Park is one of the Caribbean’s last untouched wildernesses, floating in the Grenadines archipelago of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Five uninhabited islets — Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Baradal, Petit Tabac and Jamesby — rise from a shallow, sand-bottomed lagoon shielded by the 4-kilometer arc of Horseshoe Reef, whose living coral walls break the Atlantic swell into calm, gin-clear water.

Beneath the surface, seagrass meadows host resident green and hawksbill turtles that glide alongside snorkelers with astonishing indifference to human company. Above water, powder-white sand and wind-bent palms frame a horizon of sailing yachts anchored since the days when this passage sheltered pirates and traders moving through the Grenadines chain.

Accessible only by boat, the Cays remain free of hotels, roads or permanent settlement — a rare marine park where nature’s rhythm, not tourism infrastructure, sets the pace. Local vendors sell grilled lobster and fresh fruit from beached boats, adding a gentle island soundtrack to an otherwise wild and elemental seascape.
