|Koh Nang Yuan Koh Tao, Surat Thani, Thailand ⚲
A natural triple-island sandbar rising from the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Nang Yuan is one of the most photographed landscapes in Southeast Asia. Three granite islets are joined by a narrow ribbon of white coral sand, forming a rare isthmus that splits the sea into two contrasting shades of blue. Perched just off the northwestern coast of Koh Tao, the island is privately managed yet open daily to visitors drawn by its iconic elevated viewpoint, where the sandbar unfurls dramatically below.
Beneath the surface, coral gardens and clear shallow water make for exceptional snorkeling, while the surrounding cliffs and palm-covered slopes lend a wild, unspoiled character increasingly rare in the region. The atmosphere balances postcard tranquility with the steady rhythm of day-trippers arriving by longtail boat from Koh Tao and the mainland. Come early, before the crowds, and Koh Nang Yuan reveals itself as a rare geological spectacle — a fleeting alignment of sand, rock, and sea that feels almost too perfectly composed to be real.
