A pristine natural beach and tidal inlet forming one of the most photographed coastal landscapes on Earth. Whitehaven Beach stretches seven kilometres along the eastern edge of Whitsunday Island, its sand composed of 98.9% pure silica, so fine and white it squeaks underfoot and never overheats despite the tropical sun.

At its northern tip, Hill Inlet reveals nature’s own brushwork: shifting tides sculpt swirling ribbons of turquoise, aquamarine and cobalt water through pale sandbanks, a pattern that changes hour by hour. A short walking track climbs to the Hill Inlet Lookout, framed by eucalypt woodland, offering an uninterrupted view across the Coral Sea toward the Great Barrier Reef.

Uninhabited and protected within the Whitsunday Islands National Park, the site retains a wild, untouched character. Reachable only by boat, seaplane or helicopter, it rewards visitors with silence, brilliant light, and one of the purest expressions of tropical Queensland’s coastal beauty.
