A natural turquoise lagoon crossing set beneath the arc of a small coastal bridge, Mouli Bridge is the single link joining the northern and southern halves of Ouvéa Island in New Caledonia’s remote Loyalty Islands. Built in 1982, the modest concrete span carries visitors over a narrow tidal inlet where the lagoon’s impossible gradient of blues, from pale aquamarine to deep sapphire, meets talcum-white sand and swaying coconut palms.

Below the bridge, gentle currents draw manta rays and reef fish into clear, shallow water, while both shorelines offer some of the most photographed vistas in the South Pacific. The surrounding lagoon forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed marine ecosystem, and the site remains steeped in Kanak cultural heritage, with Ouvéa’s tranquil, largely undeveloped landscape reflecting the traditions of its Melanesian community.
