A natural turquoise lagoon carved into the limestone heart of Miniloc Island, Big Lagoon is one of the most photographed vistas in El Nido’s Bacuit Archipelago. Sheer karst cliffs, draped in tropical greenery, rise dramatically from waters that shift between jade, emerald and sapphire depending on the light and tide.

Accessible only by boat and then by kayak or shallow swim through a narrow channel, the lagoon feels like a secret world sealed off from the outside. Paddling across its glassy surface, visitors are enveloped by an amphitheater of rock, silence, and the occasional call of a hornbill overhead.

Part of the classic Tour A island-hopping circuit, Big Lagoon rewards those who linger past the midday crowds, when the water calms and the cliffs glow gold at dusk. It is less a beach than a cathedral of stone and sea — one of Palawan’s purest expressions of untouched natural grandeur.
