|Seven Sisters Waterfall Geiranger, Norway ⚲
This natural waterfall spectacle is one of Norway’s most iconic sights, a cascade of seven slender, parallel streams plunging in unison down a sheer wall of emerald-mossed granite deep within Geirangerfjord. Rising from a hidden mountain plateau above the abandoned farm of Knivsflå, the falls drop roughly 250 metres in a series of silvery ribbons that seem to dance rather than fall, giving rise to centuries-old folklore of seven sisters forever teasing a lovesick suitor across the water at the Friaren cascade opposite.
Framed by snow-streaked Sunnmøre peaks and cliff-perched turf farms clinging improbably to the rock, the scene unfolds along one of the most dramatic stretches of Norway’s UNESCO-listed fjord landscape. Cruise ships and small ferries drift beneath the falls, dwarfed by the scale of the surrounding cliffs, while the deep-blue serpentine fjord below mirrors the drama above. It is best experienced from the water or on the demanding Homlong ridge hike overlooking the cascades.
