Hanauma Bay is a protected nature preserve and marine sanctuary, formed within the drowned crater of an extinct volcanic cone on the southeastern coastline of Oahu. Here, a curving amphitheater of green tuff-ring ridges cradles a luminous turquoise cove, its shallow waters fanning out over living coral gardens that shelter an extraordinary density of reef fish, green sea turtles, and vibrant marine life.
